Welcome to our booth at Vitalis Fair! "We are really looking forward to Vitalis", says Jonas Nilsagård, MD of G-coder Systems." Being chosen one of the most exciting companes within future IT-related care is of course encouraging". In their booth G-coder will display their simball joystick systems. Main application is simulation of laparoscopy which was launched 2007. Since then nearly 100 simulation stations have been shipped around the world through the first customer Surgical Science with really positive response from the market and users. "We expect further growth but are at the same time somewhat cautious due to the week general business conditions. Our special Sales & Distribution cooperation with Surgical Science on simulation of laparoscopy will continue", Jonas describes. simball equipment for a new application segment – Virtual Rehabilitation (VR) - is also displayed in the booth. In VR patients suffering from e.g. stroke rehab train using joystick and computer games. General extensive research has shown positive effects for improving rehab training for several various patient categories. The saving potentials for daily care processes are expected to be enormous. A pilot study using simball equipment is currently performed together with researchers, terapeuts and stroke patients at rehab centers in the Göteborg region, e.g. Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The handles of the simball joysticks and the computer games are tailormade to fit the demands of rehab training. "The sofar results from the pilot study are really promising. It seems that the simball characteristics like flexibility, robustness and precision fit very well with the requirements of this very exciting new segment", explains Jonas Nilsagård. " We will further drive the development for this segment and hope to launch a complete product - simball Virtual Rehab Trainer – late 2009", he finalises.
